    Eysenck, H.J.
The Dynamics of Anxiety and Hysteria : an Experimental Application of Modern Learning Theory to Psychiatry / H.J. Eysenck. – London : Routledge and Kegan Paul, 1957. – 312 p. – Экземпляр № 61379 содержит автограф автора.

In this book, the author goes beyond the statistical-descriptive approach that has characterised his previous works, and uses the postulates of modern learning theory to elucidate the dynamics of neurotic behaviour. Adding certain postulates to the set of laws proposed by Pavlov and Hall. he derives a large number of predictions which are tested experimentally. These predictions relate to the fields of conditioning, learning, perception, socialization, attitude formation, drug action, psychotheraphy, and the psychological effects of brain damage. The experiments were carried out of large groups of normal, neurotic, and psychotic subjects. Animal experiments are also reported, and the relavant experimental and theoretical literature is surveyed in some detail. Tomake the book more widely intelligible to non-specialists, an outline is given of the postulate system adopted, some of the evidence on which it is based, and examples of the hypothetico-deductive mode of argument which it makes possible. The book is sequel to the author's earlier writings, but a summary of the main results of the previous work, given in an introductory chapter, makes the book self-contained. A final chapter discusses the relevance of the theories and experiments discussed to psychiatric practice and to modern clinical psychology generally.
