Knowing that Art is a creative exploration process or creation, construction, signification, symbolization process, and permanent re-exploration, re-creation, reconstruction, re-signification, re-symbolization, became an instrument to promote self knowledge or self conscience, by cathartic way, vomiting visceral rotten or by sublimation, expurgation, both ways of impure purification, remote, hostages, repressed emotions liberation. With the purpose to reveal the secret of happiness for alder age, we reviewed the pertinent scientific literature: emotions and its management digestion, resilience and as conceived by Freus as sublimation, we interviewed 19 artists, and 5 non-artists individuals, with more than 50 years old, in a exploratory study, asking them 2 open questions: 1 - From 1 to 10 how do you evaluate your happiness? and 2 - Which are 5 major aspects that contribute to a happy life? Results from this exploratory study were consistent with the literature, revealing that the variable conceived as primary to happiness was unanimously Love, followed by Art (unanimously among artists and non-artists), Health was answered by 12 individuals, Family and Sons 10, Success 9, Money 8. We obtain other answers as: Time, Communication, Connection and Communion with others, Empathy, Inspiration, Generosity, Beauty (associated to Art), Nature, Animals, Dreaming, Perseverance, Authenticity, Sincerity, Vivacity and Curiosity, Joy, Travel, Active Growing, Self-esteem, Intelligence, Freedom, Music, Science, Good food, Relativization ("Conscience that health and economic conditions could be worst"), Seize life with realism ans conscience of alternatives and opportunities ("Had made when I had the chance: travels, adventures? crazy things, everything, that today I couldn`t anymore due to my age and physic conditions"), Harmony, Peace, Tolerance, Faith and Spirituality. Resulting from this study Art as the purification, relief and galvanizing source, essential to Happiness, it seems to us prudent renewing the alliance between Psychology and Art. – (International Journal of Developmental and Educational Psychology = INFAD Revista de Psicologia ; ano 25, № 1-vol. 2) .
