One of the most difficult aspects of the English language remains speech activity. Unfortunately, until recently, there was an erroneous opinion that speech activity is an easy skill. It was believed that the teacher should concentrate all his efforts on learning to speak, and the student will learn to perceive and understand speech along the way, without much training. However, the fallacy of this point of view was proved both theoretically and practically.Despite the fact that listening and speaking are in a very close relationship, to succeed in their uniform development is possible only with constant training. Even people with a fairly high level of English proficiency experience difficulties in perceiving the natural speech of native speakers. Some psychologists argue that the perception and understanding of speech is also a very complex psychological activity.Thus, speech activity is one of the most difficult types of speech activity that requires constant training and improvement.The relevance of using authentic texts in teaching speech activity is increasing every year. Authentic materials help to recreate the natural environment when learning, the illusion of communication with a native speaker. This is the main key to success in learning a foreign language.
