This article titled "Domestic violence and family", aims to inform, warn and alert to the universal scourge that still exists in societies. The violence in the community coexists with us since ancient times and is part of mankind heritage (Poiares, 2003). This phenomenon has only been reported from the 70 by worldwide feminist movements and has assumed large proportions. In the opinion of Poiares (2003) this scourge is quite complex and consists of several factors: social, psychological, cultural, economic, political and affective.
