The social and technological transformations that have occured in recent years have led to changes in the behavior of parents towardes their babies, whose impact on the quality of emotional relationship and parenting is still much to investigate. The time of birth is a period that affects the ability to love the human being, so the link should be established as soon as possible. An emotional relationship unique, specific and lasting linking mother to the baby, it establishes a gradually taking place since the first contact between mother and baby, facilitated by adapting the hormonal system of the mother and stimulated by the presence of the baby inside a sensitive period, located in the moments immediately following the birth. Translates into a process of mutual adaptation in which mother and baby involved. This article is a literature review, which aims to gather and synthesize the most relevant studies, describing the numerous benefits of attachment to mother and baby that encourages or promotes parental bond with the baby. – (International Journal of Developmental and Educational Psychology = INFAD Revista de Psicologia ; ano 25, № 1-vol. 2) .
